Visit From A Scaly Breasted Lorikeet

It’s not often that I see a scaly breasted lorikeet around here, so when they do turn up, I always take notice. They are such lovely colourful birds, and are much smaller than the rainbow lorikeets and often get bullied about by them too. Recently, this scaly breasted lorikeet turned up after I finished feeding some rainbow lorikeets.

Here he is sitting on the bird feeder. He doesn’t look too impressed by the empty dish!

And here he is having a scratch. First one side ….

Then the other.

Then he has to show off how flexible he is! Bend and stretch ……

He looked so cute I didn’t have the heart to tell him that he has some old leftovers stuck on his beak!

And here he is talking away. These lorikeets have such a gentle chirp compared to the noisy rainbow loris.

This bird was quite a character and a joy to see. 🙂
