I’ve lived on the Gold Coast for 20 years now and I thought I would share with you photos that I’ve taken of backyard wildlife which I have only seen as a once off or maybe just a few times over the years and haven’t been the subject of any of my blog posts before.
Except for a few, all of these photos have been scanned to my computer from developed film, so the images may not be perfectly clear.
As you will see, most of these photos were taken in a suburban backyard (before I moved to my current house on acreage).
Wildlife is everywhere, you just have to look! 🙂
Yep, that’s an alpaca. And your guess is as good as mine! XD
What an eclectic collection!

Interesting collection Sue. I hope the owners of the Alpaca were reunited with it.

I hope so too. Our house must be a magnet for uncommon animals because last year a horse wandered through our place on its way somewhere and yesterday a goat wandered into our property! 😀

Sounds like a small farm nearby with broken fences Sue. remember the law of finders keepers if its on your land and not branded. A goat is great for weeds etc and milk for home made feta.

A lovely variety of wildlife Sue, you do get some interesting visitors, especially the Alpaca, the Pheasant Coucal is an exciting visit, a birder’s delight.

Thanks Ashley. I have actually seen a pheasant coucal again here just recently, running across our yard, and another time in a tree next door. Couldn’t get a photo though as it was too quick. As for the strange appearance of the alpaca, from memory, there was a circus or something similar nearby at the time, so perhaps it was an escapee. 🙂

Hallo Sue
An Alpaca! Maybe it was admiring the Aussie wildlife too.
Cheers
